My safari to Delhi

Hello friends!!!This is a post in my blog after a very long time, but still don expect much from this...
Do you know what have I been doin all these days???
Initially stuck with exams, then came the placement fair which ofcourse stopped me no way but my new roomie vexed me so much that I did not venture to create a post in that stance.......
Just kidding aaaaa!!!!!
Then came the actual tormentor, the so called 'Research Internship' for which I have landed in a desert in the hot summer. Aggravating the situation, a confluence of negative events conspired on me taking me to the depths of agony. It was in this plight, I made a visit to one of my friends in delhi, to cool off myself, for a week end (two days -- saturday and sunday). It was although a trip just for two days, it gave me a lot of experience of metro life. So here follows my narration of the cruise.......................

You know, before I begin anything I should first thank orkut, as I have re-discovered many friends of mine through it and the wholestory started there. It is in this way, I have also met this dude and got to know that he was in delhi and will be leaving on 2nd of july. Me, with an intension to visit delhi already registered in my mind felt that, got a right time to do dhaat. Finally the conception was corroborated by, a colleague of mine also planning to make a visit to his uncle's house at the same time......Thus came to the decision on thursday night...

My Journey to Delhi:
We had started to delhi from pilani at the twenty fourth hour of friday. Finally managed to get seats to sit in the congested fad. The one next to me...started leaning on to me in the bus and me trying to move little farther from him cramming myself into the lille space available. The bus was so crowdy that no air managed to enter inside and the attire getting wet......
Finally reached delhi by 6:00AM on saturday. Then I have taken a metro to 'Pitampura', the then destiny of mine. One good thing is that the metro's have allured me so much, that I got a feel of suddenly landing into a foreign space from this overflowing crowd, may be mainly because of the journey I had on the previous night. Anyway finally reached the place succesfully from where my friend had picked me up in his car to his house.
So here goes the two days experience of mine.......

Day1:
Nothing much to say about it. Had good food after a long time. Nice day...
Everything went fine...They, my friend and his parents, received me well, visited connaght place...spent some time there on the streets accompanied by one more friend of him ..... decided that I'll go for a site seeing tour on the next day in a toorist bus, for 200bugs.....
Watched few movies...telugu and english...Spent infront of internet for sometime, which I'll do where ever I go...Then had nice chat with them for some time...Finally went to bed at 11:00PM...

Day2:
This is really one of the most memorable days in my life. You will realise the reason for that by the time you come to the tail of this part...
My day started at 6:00AM in the morning...Got up at 6:00, then had a bath and I'm taken to karol bagh , southern travels, for the trip.....
I payed 200bugs and got a ticket for the toor which started at 9:00AM...
First they took us to India gate...spent about 30mins there...
By the way even the weather was good and pleasant...
Then visited the so called, ISCON museum, where there is just a sound talk show on bagavadgita for 40rupees, which (the show, not the entry fee) I did not like...Then visited the temple there...
Then followed lotus temple, CCI (some handlooms small scale industry), Qutb Minar, Indira Gandhi Memorial, Red Fort and Rajghat. I had paid 30Rs for a photograph infront of Qutb Minar.
You know one of the interesting things in the trip was the buttler english of the guide.
On a line, the visit started at 9:00AM and ended at 6:30PM...

Now starts the actual story...
The other companion of mine has asked me, on the previous day, for the time that is to be fixed for we people to travel back to pilani. He asked whether I prefer it to be 10:00PM or somewhere around 2:00...Finally we fixed it to be 10:00...
I returned to pitampura by 8:30 and got an info from them that the other person has called for me and gave a message that the last bus is at 10:00PM. And people over there were worrying for me as it was laready getting late. So, had my dinner and left the place and has gone to 'kashmiri Gate' Metro station. Here started the trouble. I'm supposed to reach the ISBT bus station next to it to board the bus. But I was confused of the direction that I should move to reach the station. So, an innocent me asked a person to help me out. He gave me a direction. Then after walking a little distance, I asked another one and he showed me the exactly opposite direction. I was confused as to what I should do. The time was running out. It was already 9:35. So I started runnin in one direction on the roads of delhi. Some how I finally managed to reach the station cursing the one who showed me the wrong direction...Hey just wait!!!!! You know, latter I came to know that there are two entrance paths to the bus stand one from each side...interesting!!!

The time was 9:45...now in the huge area where should I check for the bus??? Again asked for help...and I was given direction to reach platform no 28 in hindi...couldnot understand what in this world is he saying at the first go!!!So went for a second trail...nd things got clear now...
So made a flight to the place...Now the time is 9:55...
I was determined to attend the office the next day and dont want to bunk it for any reason...Do you know the reason??? I want to leave pilani as soon as possible (within 5 and half weeks itself) and if I'm absent I thought that it would create problem when I want to leave the place ....thats all.....

So I have started shouting 'bayya yee bus pilani jayegaa hey kyaaa????' I dont know even if my sentence is right or not!!!!! Got only negative replies from them...Someone told me to ask at the enquiry...So without wasting even a single second I ran to that. The people over there were so adamant, they dont want to answer me for some reason that they probably might be having. After a lot of pestering from me, they finally replied that the bus had already left and asked me to check at the gate...Again where is the Gate???This time, I got a correct answer and I ran to that...waited till 10:20 and realised that bus'z gone. So, made a phone call and informed that I'm coming back to domicile. You know, he did not look at the time, so said OK and the call ended without me receiving any instructions. Hey just wait!!!!! You know now my fate has completely ran to its worse side. Thought of going back to Metro station...But the first thing I got to know was 'Metros end by 10:00PM'.....oops.....so need to take a bus???

OK...I asked a person for the place where I can find some bus to pitampura...By that time an autodriver had taken his turn and said that there will not be any bus available to that place in that late hour and propounded me to take auto which just costs 350Rs. hmmmmm...My heart started throbbing with these words...But I decided not to believe his words...So went few more steps in some random direction without knowing what to do in that 'sticky wicket'...and asked one more person...he said that the last bus will be avaialble at 11:00PM and showed me some direction. I went there and the people over there started saying "the bus' to this specific route will not turn up here, you need to go to the other stop in the far end of the road to catch it" and the conversation ended with their sinister smiles over my kismat. The time was already 10:45...oh god!!!This poor traveller started running on the roads of the capital city once again.....finally reached the place...again heard the comment from a person that I need to go to the former stop...I don know what to do!!! Need to run back to that stop again?? or Do I need to take an auto for 350Rs?? or Do I need to stay in the bus stand for 6more hours?? lot of doubts and questions have popped into my poor, worried, tired, and may be malfunctioning mind with no answers. Then an other person in that stop, having looked at my misery, suggested me to do a break journey. Then a bus had arrived at the stop which will be going to piragarhi or whatever (I dont remember the name exactly). So I boarded it and inside the bus found a person who gave me some suggestions as to how to handle cases like this...(he is of around 30years of age) and said that he would help me in hiring an auto from that place...Thank god!!!...got down at the stop...he hired an auto for me for 35Rs and called home to find out the exact place of the appartment...and I was asked to be dropped at the Metro station so that my friend can pick me up from there ... and everything went as it is...Finally my trouble ended with me seeing my friend in the car to pick me up...Even their worry as to how I'll return back ended with this ...
So this is my great day2 in delhi..............

Day3
I
woke up at 5:00Am took a metro at 6:00...now know how to reach bus stand...did it...took a bus at 7 and finally arrived at the office by 1:00....................

Back to Pilani
N
othing much to say about it. But you know life was really horrible while travelling in a conjusted bus in the hot summer of a desert. This time, I dozed off leaning over others...hahaha...
And people at my work place were so worried as to how I would be returning back that even my mentor was very eager to listen to my experiences in the city.

I think you would have got totally wearied with this expatiation of mine...But this is all the heck that I faced at the fruition of "My safari to Delhi" .............

Anyway Great experience aaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

The art of Rhetoric

Where there is meaning, there is persuasion - Kenneth Burke

Hi all, This is a post with a blend of philosophy and history of rhetoric. First of all, I would like to thank purdue for providing the complete material of their Open writing Lab (OWL) online. I was browsing through the material from the web of OWL and happended to come across a presentation on visualrhetoric. Gradually, I got engrossed in the topic and made an extensive search in google on the topic and the aristotle philosophy of rhetoric. Hence, here is a small attempt in introducing the topic to the readers of the blog.......

The online version of aristotle's theory of rhetoric can be found at:
http://www2.iastate.edu/~honeyl/Rhetoric/index.html

Now-a-days with raising importance in the ability of human for communication it is important for everyone to understand this particular field of communication, namely, persuasion inorder to efficiently coomunicate with people. Moreover, with the advent of technologies like Internet where the geographic restrictions have become hazy, it is very important for everyone to learn the art of rhetoric writing. Hence, this is just a very brief introduction to the field of persuasion through rhetoric...

Persuasion is the heart of the field of communication.
Rhetoric is the art of persuasion through the use of language. The means of persuasion may differ in each case. Aristotle lists out ethos, logos and pathos as the three most important means of persuasion. Any one whose volition is to be a renowned writer has to assimilate the essence of these forms of persuasion.
Let us first try to understand few definitions pertaining to the forms of persuasion:

Ethos is a form of persuasion which is derived when speakers character is presented in a favourable light. An Ethos based document basically relies on the reputation of the author(speaker).

Logos is derived from the logic of the speakers argument. scholarly documents (thesis) are usually logos driven. For example a paper presented on saving the world from pollution or Ozone degradation can not be Ethos driven. There should be a logic to convince the pannel of the pragmatic nature of the proposed idea. Even a small fallacy in the idea presented by a reputed author can spoil the whole document.

Pathos is based on emotions. Usually advertisements are based on this method of persuasion. Hence, one has to carefully select the suitable method of persuasion depending on the situation.

Aristotle in his book uses the philosophy of emotions to explain the art of rhetoric in persuasion. He explains how emotions (the temporary states of mind) can affect the judgements and says that a dexterous speaker should be capable of affecting the psychological moods of the the audience thus affecting their judgements.
The arouse of emotions like prejudice, pity, anger etc is all nothing but a personal appeal to the ones judging the case. Hence, any kind of emotion can be aroused in the audience by following a corresponding way of speaking.

The essence of the philosophy of Aristotles rhetoric itself is very huge. There are many other philosophies contributed by philosophists like wilson on the theory of rhetoric and I think I'm not qualified enough to present a detailed view of all those philosophies as I'm not from a philosophy background. The readers have to understand that, as already mentioned above, this is just a small attempt of mine in introudcing this particular branch of philosophy but not an attempt to explain what it is!

Using Capitals

Hi,
Two days back I pondered over a topic for my blog and thought that I shall do on "The wonders of the world". I thought of doing a good reading on this topic inorder to come up with a nice blog. But, I'm not sure if I have done enough and so I thought of endowing the readers of my blog with 'Using Capitals in texts', an area which is akin to User Centered Design (UCD). Again this is an area with which I'm not versed with. But, still I ventured to present a post on it over here. The main inception to this is a web site that I happened to browse very recently. (I'll mention it in the post).

"ANY WAY, I'M GOING TO PRESENT A VERY SUCCINCT WRITING ON THIS TOPIC EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL BE ABLE TO DO COMPLETE JUSTICE. I HOPE THAT ATLEAST THIS WILL HELP THE READERS IN GETTING INTRODUCED TO THIS NEW VISAGE OF DESIGN"

Hi, so now let me ask you one interesting question:
Which of the above two paragraphs do you find easy to read?
I'm sure that the answer from most of you will be the first paragraph (the one with small letters) .
Emperically it was observed that a paragraph full of capital letters reduces the efficiency of reading by 20-30 percent. First of all, reading a materail on the vertical computer screen itself is observed to be 20-30% slower than reading from a book. So, adding all capitals further aggravates this issue. There are many issues like this which affects the design of the web-sites.

Using capital letters does not have just the disadvantages. There are myriad of advantages as well if used properly in your web design.

Here is an account of a web-site where the author mentiones that he/she was gobsmacked to find that just a small change in the text (from small to capital) resulted in a considerable increase in the sales. I would recommend the readers to browse it once in order to have a consolidated idea of what exactly is the power of capitals..... Here is the web link for you...
http://www.dropcapitals.com/

I think that the first post of mine which may be of interest to others is atleast useful to a little extend. I'll see if I can come up with more interesting posts in the imminent future..........

Ezzams 'n' Holidays

Hi all! You know, I'm busy with my holidays till now and so I didn't find time to write a blog. Now that they are gone and exams are coming, I feel like writing a blog and here is the offshoot. Yeah! It's true. We had holi holidays for the last week and don't ask me what did I do those days. It's all oblivion. I can not even dare to assimilate what really happens when we get a break of nine days in the middle of the semester. Time some how passes and exams finally pop up. We have exams from the end of this week. I'm not not really sure if I'm prepared to face them. I'm confused regarding the topic 'whether ezzams have to be really conducted?'. Every time the topic comes, myriad of views come in, mostly students arguing NO and the other side of the game arguing YES. Every one has ones own way of dealing with it. But, one can do nothing about it. It is globally accepted and we have to fit ourselves into shells, and more importantly we have to adapt to that. It seems that all we can do is just discuss upon it. Alright, I think I've spent enough time on blogging, wish atleast the next blog will be good. Good luck!!!

Who am I?

Hi! This is just a scribble on my self for the readers. I'm kishore currently doing my B-tech 3rd year in DA-IICT (India). Interested in friends but reticent in nature to some extent, I'm also of a petulant temperament. I( some others as well) think that I'm an extremist with regard to amity and resentment. Interested in technical education in general and electronics in particular, I would like to pursue my carrier in the area of VLSI design. I like hardworking nature, but sometimes I do squander. I like playing shuttle. My hobbies are watching movies and confabulating with friends. I'm also a person with philosophical views. I prefer Indian mythology, vedas and puranas to stories and novels.

I'm also a theist with lot of reverence to god, but before that I'm a humanist- one who is concerned with the interests and welfare of humans (not by profession but by conscience) .
This is all that I can tell you about myself.

Some quotes I like:

If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z, X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut. --Albert Einstein

When I was young I observed that nine out of ten things I did were failures, so I did ten times more work --Bernard Shaw

The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.

Live as if your were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. -- Gandhi

The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it.

Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well. -- Josh Billings
